Sustainable ingredients

At Legumi, we use only sustainable, organic ingredients. Our legumes are grown with respect for the soil and nature, without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. Naturally sustainable, with a lower environmental impact.

Natural protein source

Legumes are naturally a rich source of plant-based protein and a sustainable food source. They have a low environmental impact, a long shelf life, and help reduce food waste. During cultivation, legumes don't require synthetic nitrogen fertilizers because they fix nitrogen from the air and naturally enrich the soil. This improves soil quality and prevents damage to the ecosystem.

Lower emissions

Legumes contribute to lower nitrous oxide (N₂O) emissions, a potent greenhouse gas. They have the unique ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen, making artificial fertilizers largely unnecessary. Compared to nitrogen fertilization, this results in significantly lower N₂O emissions.

Legumes consume up to a hundred times less water than animal protein sources and require 35–60% less fossil fuel than many conventional crops. This efficient use of natural resources makes legumes a sustainable choice that contributes to reducing pressure on the environment and ecosystems.
